MARINA PIERRO - BIOGRAPHY
She studied Fine Arts in Turin. She made her debut in a small role in The Innocent by Luchino Visconti. Shortly after she met Walerian Borowczyk. It started an artistic partnership that lasted for ten years, and a series of films shot mostly in Paris, where she stayed for long periods of times. Among these, “Les cas étrange du Dr. Jekyll et Miss Osbourne” taken from Robert L. Stevenson, and was awarded best film at the Festival of Fantasy of Sitges.
It was followed by the “The Living dead girl” by Jean Rollin , a cult horror film. She played alongside Klaus M. Brandauer “La quinta donna” by Alberto Negrin. Followed by the thriller for the TV show “La parete della stanza accanto” by Carlo Di Carlo. In 1988 she played in the final film of Borowczyk “Tout Disparaitra” taken from André P. De Mandiargues, and the TV movie “A traitement justifié” from Boccaccio. In 2006 she wrote and directed the short film “Floaters”, a portrait of the painter Alessio Pierro. She then directed “In Versi”, a transposition of Images from her book of poems “Nubi ardenti” presented in 2009 in “I Mille Occhi” International Festival of Cinema and Arts in Trieste. In 2009, the Trieste Film Festival dedicates a retrospective to the films of Borowczyk accompanied by the publication of the book “Associazioni imprevedibili” by Alberto Pezzotta which it holds a unique witness of their artistic relationship.
ALESSIO PIERRO - BIOGRAPHY
Born in Rome, he spent some years in Paris, where he had as an exceptional Teacher the painter and filmmaker Walerian Borowczyk, who was important for his formation as he explored with him various cinematic techniques, of painting and photography. During his art studies he participated in numerous art exhibitions in Italy and abroad with figurative paintings and posters focusing on the human figure. In the late nineties he began a pictorial journey defined MoveArt: research on the dynamic movement of the subjects represented in space and their dematerialization. His first solo exhibition was held in Rome in 2001 at the Palazzo Barberini. Followed by various solo exhibitions like “To the light of the shadow” (Montecarlo, 2008) and “Metamorphoses” (Consorti Gallery, Rome, 2011). Parallel to painting he worked as set-designer and director of photography at various independent short films and some theater projects. The last for a transposition of Dante’s Divine Comedy, staged in San Marino (2009) and Rome (2010), where he made a series of paintings projected as backdrops. Himorogi is his first work as director.
